I hereby christen thee….

Yes! The blog is finally launched! My freelancing has officially begun.

The Province newspaper has started an ongoing writing contest centred around the chapters of a crime novel. The first chapter was in the paper this past Sunday. Readers have until 9am Wednesday (ahem…yes. That’s tomorrow.) to upload their 750 to 1000 word “chapter two” to the Province’s website. The winning chapter will be in next Sunday’s paper and the contest will be on again for chapter three…etc.

My mum-in-law made me aware of the contest and I’m going to hammer something out tonight. I don’t like the idea of putting something together so hurriedly, but it actually worked for me in the last contest I entered. I found out about it at the last minute and was a first placer! I think the short time frame prevented me from second-guessing myself to death.

If I don’t win this round, I can try again for the next chapter!

Nose to the grindstone!
